To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, CanWaCH will facilitate a 101 workshop on menstrual equity for youth engaged in our network. Run by Free Period Canada, it will be held from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EDT.

Menstrual Equity 101 is a virtual and interactive workshop that builds a deepened understanding of period poverty, helping to end the stigma surrounding menstruation and increase awareness about the challenges related to accessing menstrual products. This workshop is designed for those who want to learn how to become an advocate for menstrual equity, a key global and public health priority. Menstrual Equity 101 is hosted by Free Periods Canada, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to making menstrual health accessible for Canadians, and is funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada. Through this workshop, participants can expect the following:

  • You will be able to understand what period poverty is and its impacts on the wider population.
  • You will learn to identify the pivotal role of education in achieving menstrual equity.
  • You will develop the ability to effectively engage in conversations related to menstrual stigma and period poverty.
  • You will have the opportunity to engage in interactive activities that encourage the application of your new skills and knowledge.
  • You will have the option to request a digital certificate upon completion of the workshop.
  • Gain access to an exclusive virtual collaboration hub containing additional courses and resources.
